Hello everyone at ‘Data and Dice’, I’m Trevor, and I’m excited to share my journey into the fascinating world of Kings of War. As a lifelong boardgamer, my love for strategy and competition has been a constant companion. My adventure into the realm of miniature wargaming began in a rather unexpected way in 2020, a year that brought many changes to our lives.
It all started when my sons asked me to paint their Memoir ’44 figures. This simple request ignited a newfound interest in our family for games with painted miniatures, leading us down a path of exploration and fun. I had a brief stint with Warhammer back in 2000, so I was already familiar with the concept of miniature-based wargames. However, upon revisiting this hobby, I discovered that the landscape had evolved significantly.
After reading numerous reviews and considering various options, my sons and I decided to give Kings of War a chance. This decision marked the beginning of an engaging and rewarding journey that we have thoroughly enjoyed. In our gaming sessions, diversity is the name of the game. My older son leads the mighty Abyssal Dwarfs, while the younger one commands the eerie forces of the Undead. We also have Northern Alliance, Brothermark, and Sylvan Kin armies to add variety and excitement to our battles.
Professionally, I’m a lawyer by training but currently work in a customer-facing business role. I also dabble in Python development, though I consider myself more of an enthusiast than an expert. My interest in statistics dates back to the early ’90s, inspired by Bill James’ baseball abstracts. This background in data analysis has influenced my approach to gaming, especially Kings of War.
